WHO declares COVID-19 a PHEIC
The WHO Emergency Committee determined that the novel coronavirus outbreak originating in Wuhan met the criteria for a Public Health Emergency of International Concern — the sixth such declaration since IHR (2005) and the first since the 2018-2020 Kivu Ebola PHEIC. The declaration came when 7,818 confirmed cases had been reported across 19 countries.
