17 December 2001 Disease Outbreak Reported As of 17 December, the Gabon Ministry of Health has reported 16 suspected cases (2 laboratory confirmed) including 12 deaths ( see previous report ). One hundred and fifty-five contacts have been identified.  The International team has established operations in two areas: in Makokou and in Zadie District (includes Mekambo and the area around Ekata/Mendemba).
